To turn on the built in firewall in windows XP |
This article does not properly describe the firewall settings in windows XP SP2 ( service pack 2) ( released autumn '04) - if you think you have SP2 on your machine then you may need additional information. - Disconnect from the net if you are on
- Click on 'show all connections'. You may have to snoop around a bit to find this depending on your pc configuration. Look in the start menu under 'connect to', if it's displayed. Otherwise you can just type the phrase "network connections" into any open window's address bar and hit return. A window will open displaying your internet connection(s)
- (If you have more than one connection then you should perform this on them all individually)
- Right click on your conection
- Click properties
- Click advanced
- Click the checkbox to turn on the firewall
- Close all windows
