Use 'Microsoft baseline security analyser' to check system's security |
MBSA is a quick way of checking the overall security of your system. It will check everything from whether your programs are up to date to whether your passwords are up to scratch. Even if Windows automatic update is turned on, there are always Microsoft products that aren't automatically updated, such as SQL and Office. The MBSA helps catch up with the updates via handy links. - Download the MBSA here
- Make sure you have a connection to the internet when you run the MBSA, as it does some further downloading.
- double click the downloaded file - MBSASetup-EN.msi to download the remainder of the analyser
- when download and installation is complete, double click the MBSA icon on your deskto and simply follow the instructions chosing what you want to scan your pc for.
- MBSA will again need to connect to the internet here
- When the scan is finished you will see a page explaining deficiencies in your system - spend a few moments reading this and clicking on the links explaining what was checked and how to fix probems.
- Fix all the problems you care to, restart and run the scan again to see a clean sheet
